That’s Rubbish

We saw a documentary recently (Beijing Besieged by Waste by Wei Cheng La Ji) suggesting Bejing will run out of landfill space in two years.

Apparently in 4 years, UK will have no landfill sites left.

Where will all that stuff go when the landfill fills up?

Do we really want to keep ploughing through stuff and dumping it in the ground?

We’re just asking…

Swap Off!

A wicked way to get involved in Buy Nothing New Month is to hold a swap off.

Invite your mates around, but everyone brings 5 things (clothes, books, toys, homewares) they’re not using anymore.

Let the swapping begin.

You clear your house of some clutter, and everything gets something ‘new to you’.

Anything not claimed at the end of the swap off gets donated to your local charity store, like the Brotherhood of St Laurence or Sacred Heart Mission.

What about an experience people?

But it’s my boyfriend/wife/boss/dog’s birthday!

What about an experience people?

We’d rather an awesome experience like an outdoor adventure, a gym membership, tickets to The Wiggles (or not) over a soap-on-a-rope any day.

Plus, if you really want to give someone another ‘thing’ second hand does not mean second best. Antique jewellery anyone?

We’d love you to post on our Facebook the best ideas for giving an experience over ‘stuff’.
